Hi, thanks for getting in touch. This should be possible but there are a few hoops to jump through, I’ll run through the process as I understand it (this is just from experimenting myself, so this may not be 100% correct).
Track Setup
First the track needs to be set up to support snow and/or ice, the only thing that needs to be done here is to set the following for any surface that should be snow or ice in surfaces.ini for the layout being used (or to create a new snow layout with this added):
Some tracks intended for snow will be already set up like this, but not all will. This makes the surface have snow/ice physics and particle effects, but won’t change how it looks outside of texture changes (I think this is the same as Frozen Drive). To use this modified track/layout online you will need to distribute it to drivers as well as uploading it to the server.
Event Setup
In the event setup there are a few different things to set:
Weather Type: Custom Shaders Patch with Transitions (or weighted random)
Graphics: Snow (or Light Snow etc.) (optional - this should give you falling snow)
Required Minimum CSP Version: Any version since v0.2.6 (3749 for example for very recent preview)
Core Options: Enable both custom car and track physics
Legal Tyres: Deselect all of the tyres so they are in the red list on the left
That should be everything, you should be able to select the CSP Ice tyres in-game and will have the appropriate physics set based on the surfaces in surfaces.ini.
Thank you very much for taking the time to reply with such a detailed and informative response.
Once I have some time, I’ll give it a try and let you know how I get on.
Thanks again and I really appreciate you taking the time to help.
edit: I did ready somewhere temperature has to be -3 for snow particles. I set the ambient temp to -4 inside server settings however it doesnt show a value on the server info in the server browser. Possibly something wrong there?
You’re welcome, I’m glad you got the physics portion working.
I’m afraid I’m not too sure about the snow particles, for me they seem to be working without any extra config on top of what I mentioned. Are you running Pure? For me this checkbox needs to be active (using the in-game Pure Config app):
As per that you should get snow under 3 degrees for any weather preset, but it should always be snow regardless of temperature if the weather itself is set to any snow or sleet preset.
I do have some ideas you could try:
Enable rain (Follow this guide). You may also need to set “Custom Rain Preset” in the weather config to some preset with rain falling.
Try setting the ambient temperature to some low positive value. The temperature not appearing in the CM browser shouldn’t be an issue so long as it is set correctly when you get in-game.
