Criteria start time (and therefore the lighting) of a session?

Hello.
Could you please explain how the locally installed ACSM v2 determines the start time (and therefore the lighting) of a session?
Sometimes it respects the start time set by the administrator on the server, but other times it doesn’t (for exampleS ortsland Sugo, Jarama…)
I don’t know if it uses UTC time or the track coordinates, but it only does so sometimes, and I don’t know the criteria. Perhaps it’s based on the time recorded in a specific file? Is there a way to configure it securely when creating a server?

Thank you.

Hi,

Thanks for getting in touch, there are quite a few moving parts with this system but I’ll explain it as best as I can.

This behaviour where the timezone of a track matters is coming from CSP, unfortunately if you have CSP weather active on the server there’s no way to avoid the timezone needing to be set, but if you disable CSP on the server the time you set will always be the time you see in-game with no need for timezone conversions.

With CSP enabled the server references this list to automatically set the timezone, if a track is missing from that list then the server will always fall back to UTC. When that happens CSP will then translate from UTC to whatever timezone it thinks the track is in.

If CSP also can’t find any timezone for the track then it seems to fall back to the timezone of the last track that the driver opened, which can result in the in-game time essentially becoming random.

The best way that I’m aware of to avoid that is to manually override the timezone using the CSP Extra Options input in your event configuration. There is an example of this on the CSP Wiki.

I hope that helps, please let us know if you have any further questions.

Thanks!

Hi,
Thank you so much for your clear and helpful answer.

I followed your advice to manually change the time zone using the “Additional CSP Options” in the event settings, and it worked perfectly every time.

Thanks again!
